O QUASE ADEUS

Em voz débil,
sem a energia necessária
para dizer nem a verdade
nem a mentira,
o "adeus" não ë fácil.
Mesmo forçando a voz,
raspando a garganta,
murmurando um "não sei"
e seguir o caminho
sem olhar para atrás.
O "adeus" ë sempre
um assalto à nossa
emoção mais íntima.
Ë como parar
no meio da estrada
sem saber aonde ir...

ALMOST GOODBYE

In feeble voice
without the necessary energy
to say neither true
nor a lie
but a difficult "goodbye"
with stressed letters
scratching the throat,
grumbling an "I don't know"
and leaving by the path
without looking back.
"Goodbye" is always
an assault to our
most intimate emotion.
It is like stopping
in the middle of the road
not knowing where to go.
